How to Reassign an Affiliate's Linked CRM Contact in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

When an affiliate is linked to the wrong CRM contact (usually because of duplicates), use Reassign Contact in Affiliate Manager to point them at the right record. Future attribution, commissions, and automations follow the new link.

Reassigning updates which CRM contact record an affiliate is linked to. Use it when duplicates created the wrong link — it fixes attribution, commissions, and workflow routing without deleting or merging contact data.

What changes after reassignment

  • Reporting: Future metrics follow the new link. Some historical visuals do not recalculate.
  • Commissions: New commissions follow the updated linkage. Previously paid commissions stay as-is.
  • Workflows: Ongoing automations referencing the affiliate's contact run against the new profile.
  • Affiliate portal: Performance reflects the current link going forward.

Permissions

  • You need rights to manage Affiliate Manager and Contacts in the target sub-account (Location).
  • Confirm you are working in the right Location if your agency manages several.

How to reassign

  1. From the correct Location, click Marketing in the left nav and open Affiliate Manager.
  2. Open the Affiliate Manager dropdown and choose Affiliate to view the affiliate list.
  3. On the target affiliate's row, click the three-dot menu and select Reassign Contact.
  4. In the modal, use Select Contact to search by name or email and pick the right CRM record.
  5. Click Confirm to apply. Use Cancel if you need to review first.

Edge cases

  • Different emails, same person: Consider a merge first to unify history, then reassign.
  • Recently merged contacts: Verify the surviving record before linking.
  • Bulk reassignment: Not supported — handle affiliates one at a time.
  • Rollback: No undo button. Re-run reassignment to point at a different contact.

Prevent future conflicts

  • Tune Allow Duplicate Contacts to reduce avoidable duplicates.
  • In workflows that use Add To Affiliate Manager, normalize email and use exact-match rules.
  • Resolve import conflicts (FirstPromoter and similar) before validating affiliate links.
