How to Add Sub-Affiliates in Sparkforge Affiliate Manager

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge supports up to 7-tier affiliate networks. Add sub-affiliates manually, auto-enroll new customers under their referrer, or let affiliates recruit through a sign-up page. Requires a multi-tier (tier 2+) campaign.

Sub-affiliates are affiliates working under a parent affiliate. The parent earns a share of commissions on sales generated by their sub-affiliates, which encourages affiliates to recruit and grow their own networks.

Sparkforge supports up to seven tiers, so each affiliate can have multiple downline sub-affiliates. Prerequisite: the campaign must be multi-tier (tier 2 or higher). Single-tier campaigns do not allow sub-affiliates.

Why sub-affiliates matter

Layered commissions reward both the seller and their recruiter. If Affiliate A recruits Affiliate B and B closes a sale, both A and B earn. That structure motivates affiliates to keep building — not just sell.

1. Add sub-affiliates manually

Use this when you want explicit control over who recruits whom.

  1. Go to Marketing > Affiliate Manager > Affiliates.
  2. Click the parent affiliate's name.
  3. Scroll to the Sub-Affiliate tab.
  4. Click Add Sub-Affiliate.
  5. Pick the campaign from the dropdown.
  6. Select the affiliates to add as sub-affiliates under this parent.
  7. Remove any existing sub-affiliates that no longer belong.
  8. Optionally create and add a brand-new sub-affiliate profile inline.
  9. Click Save.

2. Auto-enroll new customers as sub-affiliates

This automatically enrolls anyone who buys through an affiliate's link as a sub-affiliate under that affiliate.

  1. Open the campaign in the Sub Account Affiliate Manager.
  2. In the last step, expand Additional Settings.
  3. Toggle on Auto Enroll New Customers as Sub-Affiliates.
  4. Save and publish.

Toggle this on globally under Global Settings to apply to all future campaigns.

3. Let affiliates recruit their own sub-affiliates

Give each affiliate a sign-up link they can share. New sub-affiliates fill out a form and land under the recruiting affiliate automatically.

  1. When creating or editing a campaign, open the last step and click Additional Settings.
  2. Toggle on Sub-Affiliate Sign-Up Page.
  3. Pick the form to use for sub-affiliate sign-ups.
  4. Click Finish to save.

Affiliates see the sign-up link in their affiliate portal along with a list of every sub-affiliate currently under them.

Requirements and gotchas

  • Sub-affiliate sign-up forms must include First Name, Last Name, and Email. Missing fields cause the form to error.
  • Sub-affiliate features only work on multi-tier campaigns (tier 2 or higher).
  • Changes to global settings only apply to future campaigns. Existing campaigns keep their original config.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do sub-affiliates work on single-tier campaigns?
No. The campaign must be multi-tier (tier 2 or higher). Single-tier campaigns only pay the affiliate who made the direct sale.
What fields are required on a sub-affiliate sign-up form?
First Name, Last Name, and Email are required. Forms missing any of these will error when a recruit submits them.
If I change the global Auto-Enroll setting, does it apply to existing campaigns?
No. Global setting changes only apply to campaigns created after the change. Existing campaigns keep the configuration they were published with.
Can affiliates see who their sub-affiliates are?
Yes. The affiliate portal shows each affiliate a list of every sub-affiliate currently under them, plus their sign-up link if you have enabled sub-affiliate sign-ups.
How many tiers down can a sub-affiliate chain go?
Up to seven tiers total. Each tier earns the commission rate set for that level inside the campaign's Advanced Commissions settings.
