How Smart Send Picks the Best Time for Email Campaigns

Smart Send is a delivery option in Sparkforge Email that analyzes 60 days of opens and clicks per location and schedules each campaign at the predicted best send time.

Smart Send is a delivery option in Sparkforge Email that picks the send time for you. It scans the last 60 days of engagement for the location, finds the hour with the highest predicted open and click rate, and schedules the campaign there.

How Smart Send decides

The model weighs three signals across the past 60 days:

  • Open events by hour of day, in the sub-account's local time.
  • Click events and other interactions, to favor revenue-driving engagement over vanity opens.
  • Relative performance against the location's average, so it avoids historically weak windows.

If a particular hour has too little data, Smart Send widens the window until it hits its confidence threshold.

Eligibility

  • Minimum 1,000 emails delivered from the same location in the last 60 days.
  • Campaign must be created in Email Builder → Campaigns.
  • Currently supported for regular email campaigns. A/B and batch support are on the roadmap.

How to send with Smart Send

  1. Open Marketing → Emails.
  2. Click Campaigns → Create New Campaign.
  3. Design the email, then click Send or Schedule.
  4. Choose Smart Send (the fifth delivery option, alongside Send Now, Simple Schedule, Batch, and RSS).
  5. Fill the required fields and click Get Recommendation — Sparkforge returns the predicted best send time.
  6. Confirm the schedule. Review results in Marketing → Emails → Statistics.

Post-send analytics

The Email Statistics dashboard for a Smart Send campaign shows:

  • Engagement Lift (%) versus the location's 60-day baseline.
  • Opens and clicks broken down by the recommended hour.
  • A side-by-side comparison of Smart Send vs. manually scheduled campaigns.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my location hasn't sent 1,000 emails in 60 days?
Smart Send is greyed out until you cross that threshold. Use Simple Schedule in the meantime — Sparkforge re-enables Smart Send automatically once enough data exists.
Does Smart Send respect each contact's time zone?
It picks one optimal time based on aggregated engagement for the location. Per-contact time-zone send is a separate scheduling option.
Can I override the recommended time?
Yes. After Get Recommendation, you can accept the proposed slot or pick any custom date and time.
Which campaign types support Smart Send today?
Regular email campaigns built in Email Builder. A/B and batch are not yet supported.
Where do I see whether Smart Send actually helped?
Open the campaign in Email Statistics — the Engagement Lift percentage compares the campaign's performance to the location's 60-day baseline.
