Configure Unsubscribe Flows in Sparkforge: One Step, Two Step, or Dynamic

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge supports three unsubscribe flows: One Step (instant), Two Step (email confirmation), and Dynamic (One Step normally, Two Step when bot-risk signals appear). Set it once in Email Marketing Settings.

Unsubscribe flows control what happens after a recipient clicks the unsubscribe link. Sparkforge supports three options so you can balance compliance, deliverability, and accidental opt-out protection. The setting applies account-wide.

The three flows

One Step

Single click unsubscribes the contact instantly, then offers an optional feedback prompt. Frictionless, which keeps complaints and spam reports low.

Two Step

Contacts must confirm their email address before the unsubscribe finalizes. Adds friction that reduces accidental opt-outs, which matters for high-value or highly engaged lists.

Dynamic (recommended)

Combines One Step and Two Step. Unsubscribe is instant unless one of these is true:

  • The contact clicks within 5 minutes of email delivery.
  • The contact is less than 1 hour old.

In those cases, confirmation is required. This catches most bot-triggered clicks without slowing down real opt-outs.

How to configure

Step 1: open email marketing

  1. From the dashboard, click Marketing in the left navigation.
  2. Click Emails in the top navigation ribbon.

Step 2: open email settings

  1. In the secondary nav, click Campaigns.
  2. Click the gear icon in the upper right.

Step 3: pick the flow

  1. In the left secondary nav, open the Unsubscribe tab.
  2. Use the radio selector to pick One Step, Two Step, or Dynamic.
  3. Use the Preview buttons next to each option to test the experience.
  4. Click Save.

Customizing the unsubscribe link

You can change the visual treatment of the unsubscribe link without changing the flow. From the email settings panel, click How to customize the unsubscribe link under the flow selector.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will changing the flow affect contacts who already unsubscribed?
No. Changes apply only to emails sent after you save the new setting. Prior unsubscribe data is unchanged.
What happens if a Two Step contact never confirms?
The unsubscribe does not complete. The contact stays subscribed until they click the confirmation.
How do I test the Dynamic flow?
Send yourself a test email and click the link within 5 minutes of delivery, or use a contact created less than 1 hour ago. You should see a verification prompt.
Does my flow apply to every campaign?
Yes. The flow is set at the account level and every email honors the current selection until you change it.
Which flow is best for most senders?
Dynamic. It keeps the experience instant for most clicks while catching bot and accidental clicks within the risky window.
