Response Style Settings in Sparkforge Conversation AI

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Response Style Settings control how long Conversation AI replies are: Concise (~30 words), Balanced (~80), or Detailed (~200). Settings apply per bot so different bots can use different styles.

Response Style Settings let you control how long and detailed each Conversation AI bot's replies are. Pick Concise, Balanced, or Detailed to align responses with the channel (SMS vs. web chat) and the bot's purpose without rewriting prompts.

Why response length matters

  • Channel-friendly replies: match length to SMS, web chat, social DMs, or support flows.
  • Customer clarity: the right detail level reduces back-and-forth.
  • Brand consistency: keep tone and depth aligned across bots.
  • Per-bot flexibility: use different styles for different bots.
  • Easy adjustments: switch styles anytime without changing flows or prompts.

Supported bot types

  • Form-based bots
  • Prompt-based bots
  • Flow-based bots

StyleApprox. lengthBest for
Concise~30 wordsQuick acknowledgments, simple Q&A, SMS replies
Balanced~80 wordsGeneral conversations, qualifying questions, basic support
Detailed~200 wordsFAQs, troubleshooting, onboarding, step-by-step instructions

Word counts are guidelines, not strict caps. Replies may run slightly shorter or longer based on context. If your custom prompt includes conflicting length instructions (for example, "always respond in 20 words"), results become unpredictable. For best results, do not add separate word-count rules in your custom prompt when Response Style Settings are active.

Enable Response Style Settings

  1. Go to AI Agents → Conversation AI → Agents list.
  2. Open an existing bot or create a new one.
  3. Scroll to Response Settings and toggle it on.
  4. Pick Concise, Balanced, or Detailed from the dropdown.
  5. Click Save.

When disabled, the bot keeps responding the way it does today, with no Response Style applied.

Run different styles per bot

Settings save per bot, so you can run one bot in Concise mode for SMS and another in Detailed for support-heavy channels like web chat or Messenger.

Frequently Asked Questions

If I enable Response Style Settings on one bot, do all bots change?

They can conflict. For predictable results, avoid adding separate word-count or length rules in your prompt while Response Style Settings are active.
