How to Add Quick Filters to a Sparkforge Dashboard
Quick Filters let any dashboard viewer slice custom widgets by a chosen property without editing the dashboard. Filters apply per-user, save to the browser session, and combine with widget-level filters using AND logic.
Quick Filters give viewers their own slice of a dashboard without granting edit rights. Each user's selections save independently, so one viewer's filter does not change what anyone else sees.
Important: Quick Filters work on custom widgets you create. They do not apply to default General Widgets.
Add Quick Filters to a dashboard
- Open the dashboard you want to add filters to.
- Click the Quick Filters button at the top of the dashboard.
- Click + Add Quick Filters. A sidebar opens with available filters grouped by data source.
- Search or browse, then check the boxes for the filters you want.
- Click Add.
- Review the selection, add a description for each filter if helpful, then click Apply.
Quick Filters are configured per dashboard. Set them up separately on every dashboard that needs them. Only users with full or edit access can configure filters; view-only users can apply them but cannot change them.
Use a Quick Filter
- Open a dashboard with Quick Filters configured.
- Use the Quick Filter bar at the top to pick a value.
- Widgets refresh based on your selection.
Filters apply only to widgets sharing the same data source as the filter property. A Tags filter under the Contact data source, for example, only affects widgets built on Contact data.
Selections are stored per user and persist within the current browser session. Open the same dashboard later in the session and your last filters are still applied.
How Quick Filters interact with widget filters
Quick Filters and widget-level filters combine using AND logic. A Quick Filter does not override a widget filter; it adds another constraint.
Example: a widget filter set to Appointment status = Confirmed combined with a Quick Filter of Appointment status = Cancelled asks for appointments that are both, which returns no data.
Best practice: use widget filters for widget-specific needs and Quick Filters for shared, team-wide slicing. Avoid duplicating the same filter at both levels.
