How to Duplicate a Dashboard to Another Sub-account

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

From the source dashboard's 3-dot action menu, choose Duplicate to another sub-account, name the copy, pick the target sub-account, click Duplicate. Reconnect any broken data sources after.

Duplicating copies a dashboard to a different sub-account. To copy inside the same sub-account, use Clone instead.

What duplication does and doesn't carry over

The dashboard layout, widgets, and configuration carry over. Data sources don't. If a widget pulls from a custom value that doesn't exist in the target sub-account, the widget shows up red with an "error while loading data" message after the duplicate finishes.

You need access to both the source and target sub-accounts. Cross-sub-account duplication is an Agency-level capability.

Duplicate a dashboard

1. Open the source dashboard

Go to Sub-account → Dashboard, open the dashboard you want to copy.

2. Open the action menu

Click the 3-dot action menu and select Duplicate to another sub-account.

3. Configure

In the modal, type a name for the new dashboard, select the target sub-account, and click Duplicate. The copy appears in the target sub-account.

4. Fix broken data sources

Open the duplicated dashboard. Any widget that depended on a data source missing in the new sub-account will display in red. Either delete those widgets or repoint them to a valid local source.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are some widgets red in the duplicated dashboard?
They're pointing at data sources (like custom values) that exist in the source sub-account but not in the target. Either delete them or reconnect them to local equivalents.
Can a sub-account-level user duplicate to another sub-account?
No. Duplication across sub-accounts requires Agency-level access. Sub-account users can only Clone within their own sub-account.
Do permissions carry over to the duplicated dashboard?
Layout and widgets carry over. Permissions are independent on the new dashboard — set them as needed in the target sub-account.
What's the difference between Clone and Duplicate?
Clone copies inside the same sub-account and keeps data sources intact. Duplicate copies across sub-accounts and may break data sources that don't exist in the target.
