How to Customize Email Attribution Settings in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge attributes revenue to email campaigns within a 5-day window by default. You can change the window length and switch between All Campaigns or Product Element Specific attribution in email settings.

The conversion metric in Sparkforge ties revenue back to the campaigns that drove it. The attribution window is the time period during which a customer action counts toward a specific email touchpoint. Both the window and the attribution style are configurable.

Attribution window

  • Default: 5 days.
  • Custom: change it in your account's email settings to match your sales cycle.

Steps to change the window

  1. Open Email Marketing.
  2. Go to Email Settings.
  3. Adjust the attribution window.

Why 5 days is the default

Most subscribers stop remembering an email after about 5 days. A shorter window keeps attribution honest by not crediting purchases that happened too long after the email was opened to plausibly be driven by it.

How attribution actually works

Worked example using the default 5-day window:

  • Day 1: you send a campaign to a subscriber.
  • Day 3: subscriber opens the email and sees a product offering.
  • Day 4: subscriber comes back and buys.

Revenue is attributed to the email because the purchase happened inside the 5-day window. If the same subscriber bought on Day 10, the purchase would not be attributed to the email.

Attribution style

  • All Campaigns (default): attributes conversions across every campaign for a full picture.
  • Product Element Specific: only attributes conversions to campaigns that include a product element.

Steps to change the style

  1. Open Email Marketing.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Toggle between All Campaigns and Product Element Specific.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum attribution window I can set?
You can adjust it in email settings to match your business needs. Pick a window that reflects how long it actually takes your subscribers to convert after opening an email.
What is the difference between All Campaigns and Product Element Specific?
All Campaigns credits every campaign in the attribution window. Product Element Specific only credits campaigns that include a product element, which gives a tighter view of revenue tied directly to product promotions.
Does the attribution window apply to SMS or other channels?
This setting is for email campaigns. SMS and other channels have their own attribution behavior.
If a customer opens two emails in the window, which one gets credit?
Attribution follows the campaigns the customer engaged with inside the window per the style you have set. Use Product Element Specific if you only want product campaigns credited.
