How to Auto-Post from an RSS Feed with Sparkforge Social Planner
Sparkforge Social Planner can auto-publish new items from any RSS or Atom feed to your connected social channels. X/Twitter is not supported; every other Social Planner network works.
Connect an RSS or Atom feed to Sparkforge Social Planner and new items publish to your social channels automatically. Good for blog posts, podcast episodes, YouTube uploads, or news from any site that exposes a feed.
Heads up: X (Twitter) does not support RSS posting due to API restrictions. Every other Social Planner network — Facebook Pages, Instagram Business, LinkedIn (profile or page), Google Business Profile, Pinterest — works.
Prerequisites
- A valid RSS or Atom feed URL from your blog, podcast host, or YouTube channel.
- Social accounts connected in Marketing > Social Planner > Settings.
Find an RSS feed URL
Most sites still publish feeds — they just do not advertise them anymore.
- WordPress: append
/feed(e.g.example.com/feed). Works on most WordPress sites. - Tumblr: append
/rss. - Blogger: append
/feeds/posts/default. - Medium: insert
/feed/before the publication name (medium.com/feed/example-site). - YouTube: paste the channel URL into a feed reader directly — most readers parse it as a feed.
- Anywhere else: View Page Source, Ctrl+F for "rss" or "atom", and copy the URL you find.
Set up an RSS post
- Open Marketing > Social Planner.
- Click New Post and choose RSS Post.
- Paste the RSS feed URL.
- Pick the connected social accounts to publish to.
- (Optional) Add an End with string — hashtags, link, signature.
- Set Update Time: how often to check the feed (every 5 minutes up to once a day).
- Set Maximum Posts: how many items to fetch each check (1–5). Each item still publishes only once.
- (Optional) Toggle Include Description to publish title + description instead of title only.
- Use the multi-item preview (up to 5) to spot truncation across networks before saving.
Per-network text generation
When the same item posts to multiple networks, Social Planner generates separate text per network so each fits the character limit. Use the multi-item preview to confirm formatting before you save.
Duplicate protection
Social Planner tracks RSS items for 90 days using the item GUID (or the link plus title if no GUID). That means each item publishes once, duplicates are skipped, and items that arrive late or out of order still get caught.
