How to Import Mailchimp Email Templates into Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Open Marketing > Emails > Templates, click New > Import Email, choose Mailchimp, paste the campaign URL, name the template, and open it in the Design Editor.

Sparkforge can pull a Mailchimp campaign URL and recreate it as an editable template inside the Design Editor. The structure — headers, images, text blocks — maps onto Sparkforge's drag-and-drop blocks so you can edit without touching HTML.

How the import works

Sparkforge reads the public HTML at the campaign URL and converts the layout into editable components. Brand fonts, colors, and image assets carry over. You do not provide Mailchimp credentials or API keys — only a campaign URL.

Steps to import a template

  1. Open the Templates section. Go to Marketing → Emails → Templates.
  2. Start a new import. Click New in the top right and choose Import Email.
  3. Pick Mailchimp as the source. In the popup, set Import from to Mailchimp.
  4. Paste the campaign URL. Copy the URL from your Mailchimp campaign and paste it into the URL field.
  5. Name the template. Use a clear name so you can find it later in the templates list.
  6. Open in the Design Editor. Click Open in Design Editor, then Create Template. Edit visually from there.

Limits to know

  • Mailchimp merge tags do not auto-translate. Reconfigure dynamic content using Sparkforge Custom Values or Dynamic Fields after import.
  • Templates need a campaign URL. If you saved a Mailchimp template, build a campaign with it first to get a shareable URL.
  • Non-standard HTML may need cleanup. Switch to the Code Editor and adjust if blocks render misaligned.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Sparkforge need my Mailchimp login?
No. The import reads the public HTML at the campaign URL you paste. No credentials or API keys are required or stored.
Can I import a Mailchimp template directly?
Not directly. Mailchimp only exposes campaign URLs publicly, so create a campaign using your saved template, then paste that campaign URL into Sparkforge.
Will my Mailchimp merge tags work after import?
Layout imports cleanly, but Mailchimp-specific merge tags and conditional content do not translate. Rebuild dynamic logic with Sparkforge Custom Values or Dynamic Fields.
What if the imported template looks broken?
Open the Code Editor and adjust the HTML. The block converter expects standard HTML with inline CSS — highly customized Mailchimp markup may need cleanup.
