How to Import HTML Email Templates and Campaigns in Sparkforge
Use the Code Editor in Sparkforge's Email Builder to paste pre-existing HTML for either templates or campaigns. Pick Blank Template or Blank Campaign, then choose Code Editor instead of Design Editor.
If you already have HTML email templates from another platform, Sparkforge's Email Builder lets you paste them in directly using the Code Editor. No re-building from scratch.
Import HTML as a template
- Go to Marketing > Email Builder.
- Click Create New Template.
- Choose Blank Template from the dropdown.
- In the editor selection popup, choose Code Editor instead of Design Editor.
- Paste your HTML in the editor area to see the live preview.
Import HTML as a campaign
- From Marketing > Email Builder, click Create Campaign.
- Select Blank Campaign on the templates screen.
- In the popup, choose Code Editor.
- Paste your HTML and verify the preview.
When to use Code Editor vs Design Editor
- Code Editor: for imported HTML, custom layouts, or complete control over markup.
- Design Editor: for drag-and-drop building from blocks — easier to maintain for non-developers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I switch from Code Editor to Design Editor after pasting HTML?
Switching back is risky — the Design Editor may not faithfully convert your imported HTML. Treat the choice as a commitment for that template or campaign.
What HTML standards work best?
Use table-based email HTML with inline CSS. Modern flexbox and grid often render unpredictably in older email clients.
Will merge tags work in imported HTML?
Yes. Sparkforge merge tags work the same way in Code Editor — just paste them into your HTML where you want personalization to appear.
Can I import templates from Mailchimp or ActiveCampaign?
Yes — export the HTML from those platforms and paste it into the Code Editor. Sparkforge has dedicated import flows for Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign templates.
