Email Templates vs Email Campaigns in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Templates are reusable email layouts. Campaigns are the actual sends built on top of a template, scheduled to a list, segment, or tag.

Sparkforge’s Email Marketing area splits into two views: Templates and Campaigns. They serve different jobs.

Email Templates

Templates are reusable layouts — presets you build once and re-use. Drop in your logo, recurring images, brand colors, and standard blocks. Build templates for purposes like newsletters, promo announcements, or onboarding messages.

Email Campaigns

Campaigns are the messages you actually send. Pick a template, customize it, then schedule the send to specific contacts, a Smart List, or contact tags.

Campaigns can be cloned for future sends and edited freely before they go out. The Email Builder lets you duplicate, delete, and rearrange element blocks on top of the template layout.

When to use which

  • Build a template when you have a recurring layout or branded structure you want to re-use.
  • Build a campaign when you have specific recipients and a specific message to deliver.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I edit a template after I save it?
Yes. Open the template, change the layout or content, and save. New campaigns built from it pick up the changes.
Does editing a template change campaigns already sent?
No. Past sends are static. Only future campaigns built from the template inherit the changes.
Can I clone an existing campaign instead of building from a template?
Yes. Cloning copies content, layout, and settings into a new campaign you can then customize and re-schedule.
