How to Auto-Issue a Certificate After a Quiz or Assignment
Use the Lesson Completed trigger in Sparkforge Workflow Builder, filter by product/category/lesson, then add Issue Certificate. Learners get the certificate automatically on pass.
Sparkforge can auto-send a certificate the moment a learner passes a specific quiz or assignment. Build it once in Workflow Builder and forget it.
Overview
The workflow uses a Lesson Completed trigger with filters that scope it to one quiz or assignment, plus an Issue Certificate action.
Steps
1. Add the trigger
- In your workflow, click Add Trigger.
- Choose Lesson Completed.
2. Apply filters
Scope the trigger to the right lesson:
- Product → the course.
- Category → the module or section that holds the quiz.
- Lesson → the specific quiz or assignment.
3. Add the certificate action
- Click the + under the trigger.
- Pick Issue Certificate.
- Select the certificate template.
Save and activate. Sparkforge issues the chosen certificate every time a learner passes that quiz or assignment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this trigger fire for any lesson, or just quizzes?
Lesson Completed fires on any lesson. The Product, Category, and Lesson filters scope it to a specific quiz or assignment so the certificate only issues for that one.
Can I issue different certificates for different quizzes?
Yes. Build a separate workflow for each quiz. Each one filters to its own lesson and selects its own certificate template.
What if a learner fails the quiz?
Lesson Completed only fires on a passing completion. Learners who fail do not trigger the certificate.
Where do I create certificate templates?
In your Sparkforge account under Memberships and Certificates. Templates created there appear in the Issue Certificate action's template picker.
