How to Dispute a Google Review in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Open the contact in Conversations and click Dispute this review to send a takedown request to Google. Use the same flow to check the status of any review you have already reported.

If a Google review violates Google's policies — spam, offensive language, fake postings — you can report it for review. Sparkforge ties this directly into the Conversations tab so you can dispute and track from one place. Note: you can only dispute reviews that were generated through the system. For external reviews, start the dispute process directly in your Google Business Profile.

Reporting a Google review from Conversations

  1. Open the Conversations tab and search for the contact whose review you want to dispute.
  2. Click Dispute this review.
  3. Confirm the Google email and Business Profile tied to the review.
  4. Choose Report a review or Check status of a reported review.
  5. Pick the review from your recent list. You can preview it on Google Maps or submit the takedown request.

Checking the status of a reported review

From the same dispute flow, choose Check status. Google returns the reviews you have already reported with their current status. Click any of them for a summary, and submit an appeal if a takedown was rejected.

Google limits how many reviews appear in this view, so very active accounts may not see the full history.

Known limitations

This dispute flow only works for Google Business Profile accounts that manage a small number of listings. Joy Hawkins reported that an account with 33 listings returned: "Based on the number of Business Profiles you manage, this process is not available." Agencies managing many locations often hit the same wall and have to dispute each review directly inside Google Business Profile instead.

What Google looks for

Google removes reviews that violate its policies — usually spam, offensive content, conflicts of interest, or off-topic posts. Disagreement with the reviewer's opinion is not grounds for removal. Document why the review breaks a specific Google policy when you submit the request to give it the best chance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I dispute any Google review from Sparkforge?
Only reviews generated through the system can be disputed from the Conversations tab. For others, start the dispute directly in your Google Business Profile.
How long does Google take to act on a dispute?
There is no fixed timeline. Most decisions return within a few days, but complex cases can take weeks. Use the status check to track progress.
Will Google remove a negative review just because I disagree with it?
No. Google only removes reviews that violate its policies — spam, offensive content, fake reviews, or off-topic posts. A negative but truthful review will stay.
What if my dispute is rejected?
Open the reported review from the status view and submit an appeal with additional context.
Why does the dispute tool say it is not available for my account?
Google restricts this flow on accounts that manage many Business Profiles. Agencies with large listing counts must dispute reviews inside Google Business Profile directly.
