Create Custom SMS Templates for Recurring Review Requests

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Build custom SMS templates for recurring review requests, personalize them with tokens and dynamic images, and assign different templates to each retry stage in the sequence.

Custom SMS templates in Sparkforge Reputation Management let you design the exact messages sent in recurring review requests. Personalize each message with custom tokens, dynamic image links, and your own copy so the request feels tailored to the recipient.

What you can do with custom SMS templates

  • Personalized copy — Use custom tokens like {{contact.first_name}}.
  • Dynamic images — NiftyImages-compatible URLs that change based on contact data.
  • Per-retry templates — Vary the message at each retry stage so customers don't see the same SMS twice.
  • Pre-built or from scratch — Start from the template library or design your own.

Configure the SMS sequence

  1. From the left menu, select Reputation, then click the Settings tab.
  2. In the left navigation, select SMS Requests.
  3. Toggle SMS Review Requests on.
  4. Set When to send SMS after check-in — Immediately, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, or a custom delay.
  5. Set Until clicked, repeat this every — 3 days, 1 week, 1 month, or custom (hours or days).
  6. Set Maximum retries — between 1 and 5.
  7. Click Set SMS Templates to assign templates to each retry stage. Save when done.

Build a template from scratch

  1. Click Create New, then select Create New from Scratch.
  2. Name the template clearly so you can find it later.
  3. Toggle Request with Image on if you want to include an image.
  4. Upload an Image (SVG, PNG, or JPG) or paste a Custom Image URL for dynamic visuals.
  5. Write your message, dropping in custom tokens like {{contact.first_name}}.
  6. Click Save.

Start from a pre-built template

  1. Click Create New, then select Select from Pre-Built Templates.
  2. Use the search bar to filter by name or keyword.
  3. Preview the templates and pick one.
  4. Click Edit Template to customize copy, tone, and personalization before saving.

Manage existing templates

  • Duplicate — Click the copy icon to clone a template. The duplicate is independent, so edits don't affect the original.
  • Edit — Click the pencil icon to update content, images, or personalization.

Image: static upload vs. dynamic URL

Request with Image uploads a fixed file (SVG, PNG, JPG) that appears in every SMS. Add Custom Image URL takes a hosted link — ideal for dynamic services like NiftyImages where the image changes per contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use different templates for each retry?
Yes. In the Set SMS Templates window, assign a specific template to Retry 1, Retry 2, and so on. Vary the message to keep the sequence from feeling spammy.
What's the difference between Request with Image and Custom Image URL?
Request with Image uploads a static file (SVG, PNG, JPG) that appears in every send. Custom Image URL takes a hosted link, ideal for dynamic services like NiftyImages where the image changes per contact.
Can I set the repeat interval in hours instead of days?
Yes. Pick Custom under Until clicked, repeat this every. Set the number and choose Hours or Days from the dropdown.
Does duplicating a template change the original?
No. The duplicate is independent. Edit it freely without affecting the source.
How many retries can I configure?
Between 1 and 5, set in the Maximum retries dropdown.
