Connect Instagram Business or Creator to Social Planner
Sparkforge Social Planner now connects directly to Instagram Business and Creator accounts without a Facebook Page. The classic Facebook-linked method still exists if you need legacy view-count metrics.
Social Planner connects to Instagram in two ways. The new Direct Instagram Integration skips the Facebook Page step. The classic Facebook-linked method is still available when you need legacy metrics like image and video view counts.
What is new
- Direct Instagram integration: connect and schedule without linking a Facebook Page.
- Creator account support: auto-post Stories from Creator profiles.
- One workflow: manage Posts, Stories, and Reels from Sparkforge with Instagram-only permissions.
Direct vs. Facebook-linked
Direct integration
You authenticate only with Instagram. No Facebook Page connection step inside Social Planner. Instagram still requires the underlying profile to be a Business profile linked to a Facebook page or a Creator profile (no Facebook page needed for Creator).
Facebook-linked integration
You connect a Facebook Page first, then the Instagram account through it. Required if you want enhanced metrics including video and image views, or access to Meta Business features.
Before you start
- Confirm the profile is a Business or Creator account. Personal profiles cannot post via the API.
- If using Facebook-linked, confirm Admin or Editor role on the Facebook Page (Classic Page) or Full / Partial Control (New Page).
- If the Page is in Business Manager, make sure you have management access to the Page in that Business Manager account.
Method 1: Facebook-linked (classic)
- Log in to Facebook and click your profile photo top right.
- Click See all profiles and switch into the Page.
- Click your Page profile picture, then Settings & privacy > Settings.
- Under Permissions, click Linked accounts.
- Next to Instagram, click View, then Connect account, and follow the steps.
- In Sparkforge, go to Marketing > Social Planner.
- Click the Settings gear next to New and add the Instagram account.
Method 2: Direct Instagram integration
- In Sparkforge, go to Marketing > Social Planner.
- Click New and choose Instagram.
- Sign in to Instagram and grant the requested permissions.
- Confirm the account in Sparkforge.
What gets posted
- Posts (image, video, carousel).
- Stories, including auto-posted Stories from Creator accounts.
- Reels.
Metrics
Engagement data like likes and comments shows in Social Planner. Image and video view counts are excluded by the Instagram API on direct connections. Use the Facebook-linked method when view counts matter.
