How to Enable Click Tracking in Sparkforge Email Campaigns
Click tracking is off by default. Turn it on per campaign at send/schedule time, then open Click Performance from the campaign's three-dot menu to see link- and contact-level data.
Click tracking shows which links your recipients open and how often, so you can tell what content resonates and where to tighten up. It's off by default in Sparkforge — you turn it on per campaign at send time.
What click tracking gives you
- Per-link click counts across the campaign
- Which contacts clicked which links
- Total clicks by link to compare engagement
Enable click tracking on a campaign
- Go to Email Marketing and create a new campaign (or open an existing draft).
- Click Send or Schedule.
- Toggle Click tracking on before confirming.
- Send or schedule the campaign as normal.
View Click Performance
Open the campaign list, click the three-dot menu next to the campaign, and select Click Performance. You'll see overview metrics plus a per-link breakdown. Click any link to drill into contact-level click details.
Where click tracking does not work
- Tracking disabled at send time — no data is collected if you didn't enable it before sending.
- Test emails — tracking is skipped. Send a small dummy campaign to real contacts if you want to verify.
- Trigger links — they already use centralized redirection, so click tracking doesn't apply.
- Non-HTTP/HTTPS URLs — only links starting with
http://orhttps://are tracked. - mailto: and anchor links — not covered. Use absolute URLs.
- System-generated links — preview, unsubscribe, and affiliate links generated by Sparkforge are not tracked.
- Broken or malformed URLs — typos and syntax errors break tracking. Verify links before sending.
- Magic links with custom values — test these in a dummy send before relying on them.
Limitations
- RSS and A/B test campaigns are not yet supported.
- Workflow-triggered email steps don't surface click metrics here. Use standard email marketing campaigns.
- Custom values inside links are tracked. Trigger links are not.
- Campaigns sent before June 13, 2024 won't appear in Click Performance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is click tracking on by default?
No. You have to toggle it on before sending or scheduling each campaign. Past sends without tracking enabled won't have data.
Why don't I see click data on a test email?
Test sends skip click tracking. To verify the feature, send a real campaign to a small contact list.
Do trigger links count as clicks?
No. Trigger links use a separate redirection system, so they're excluded from Click Performance.
Can I see which contact clicked a specific link?
Yes. Open Click Performance, click the individual link, and Sparkforge shows the contact-level click list.
Why are workflow-sent emails missing from Click Performance?
Click Performance currently reports on standard email marketing campaigns only. Automated workflow emails aren't included yet.
