How to Create Instagram Collaborator Posts in Sparkforge Social Planner
Add an Instagram handle in the Collaborator field when you build a Feed or Reel post in Sparkforge Social Planner. Once your collaborator accepts on Instagram, the post appears on both profiles.
Instagram Collaborator Posts let two accounts share a single post in their feed or Reels. Sparkforge's Social Planner supports them natively, so you can schedule a Collab post the same way you schedule any other Instagram post.
What an Instagram Collab Post does
One upload appears on both accounts' profiles after the second account accepts the invite. That doubles the audience without doubling the work, which is why partnerships and influencer campaigns lean on it.
- Post once, appear on two profiles
- Reach both follower bases
- Approval happens natively on Instagram, not in Sparkforge
- Works for Feed posts and Reels
Schedule a Collab post in Social Planner
- Go to Marketing, then Social Planner.
- Connect your Instagram account. Click the gear icon next to New Post to open settings. If your account isn't connected, click Add Account and walk through the connection flow.
- Click New Post. Pick your Instagram profile, then add caption, hashtags, location, and media.
- Choose Feed or Reel. Collab posts only work on these two formats. Use the dropdown to set the post type.
- Add a collaborator. Scroll to the Collaborator field and type the handle exactly (e.g.,
@partneraccount). - Schedule or publish. Pick a time or click Post Now. Once it goes live, your collaborator gets a notification on Instagram. After they accept, the post appears on both profiles.
Requirements to get the invite right
- Format: Feed or Reel only. Stories and Carousels don't support collaboration.
- Handle accuracy: a typo means the invite never reaches the right account.
- Approval lives on Instagram: Sparkforge schedules the post; Instagram handles the accept flow after publish.
Frequently asked questions
Can I tag multiple collaborators? No. Instagram allows one collaborator per post.
What if they don't accept? The post still publishes on your profile. It won't show on the collaborator's profile unless they accept.
Does the collaborator need to be connected in Social Planner? No. They just need a valid Instagram handle.
Can I edit the collaborator after publish? No. The collaborator must be set before you publish.
