By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

From Sparkforge Social Planner, pick Facebook or Instagram, compose your post, and use the location tagging option to attach a place. The first use prompts an authentication step for the extra scope.

Location tagging on social posts increases local visibility and gives followers a clickable place reference. Sparkforge Social Planner supports location tags on Facebook and Instagram.

Why tag a location

  • Posts surface in feeds and search for that place
  • Local audiences are more likely to engage
  • Helps drive foot traffic and discovery for service businesses

How to tag a location

  1. Go to Marketing > Social Planner.
  2. Click Create New Post.
  3. Select the social accounts you want to publish to.
  4. Add your content, media, and any other settings.
  5. Use the Location tagging option to search and attach a place.
  6. Schedule or publish.

Location tagging is supported on Facebook and Instagram. The first time you use it, Sparkforge will prompt you to re-authenticate the connected account so it has the scope needed to write a location to the post.

Tip: Use a consistent location across posts for a single venue so reviews, photos, and tagged content all aggregate on the same place page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which networks support location tagging?
Facebook and Instagram. Other networks connected through Social Planner don't accept a location field via the API at this time.
Why am I being asked to re-authenticate my account?
Location tagging requires an additional permission scope that wasn't part of the original connection. Re-auth grants Sparkforge the access it needs to attach a place.
Can I tag multiple locations in one post?
No. The networks accept only one location per post. Schedule separate posts if you need to highlight more than one venue.
Will location tags work on scheduled posts?
Yes. The location is attached when the post is published, whether you publish immediately or schedule for later.
