How to Set Working Hours for a Voice AI Agent

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Open Settings > Voice AI Agents, pick your agent, go to Phone & Availability, and toggle on working hours. Choose the days and time ranges the agent answers calls.

Voice AI working hours control when your AI agent answers calls. Outside those hours, calls hit your fallback (voicemail, another number, or an off-hours message).

Why set working hours

  • The AI only answers when someone on your team can follow up on what it captures
  • Off-hours calls go to a process built for off-hours (voicemail, after-hours line)
  • You don't pay AI usage for calls you can't act on anyway

How to set working hours

  1. Open Settings > Voice AI Agents.
  2. Click the agent you want to configure.
  3. Go to Phone & Availability.
  4. Toggle on Set working hours for the agent.
  5. Pick the days of the week and time ranges for each day.
  6. Click Save.

Common configurations

  • Standard business: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, off weekends
  • Service trades: Mon-Sat 7am-7pm with shorter Sunday window
  • Coverage windows: different hours per day to match shift patterns

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when someone calls outside working hours?
The call routes to whatever fallback you've set (voicemail, another number, or an off-hours message). The Voice AI doesn't answer.
Can different Voice AI agents have different schedules?
Yes. Working hours are set per agent. A sales agent and a support agent can run on completely different schedules.
Will the schedule update automatically if my hours change?
No. You set the hours manually. Update them in Phone & Availability whenever your schedule shifts (holidays, seasonal hours, etc.).
Can I configure working hours by time zone?
Yes. Set the time zone when you define the schedule, which matters when you serve customers across regions.
Can the AI handle urgent after-hours calls?
Not by default. If you need 24/7 coverage, leave working hours off or set up a separate after-hours agent with a different escalation flow.
