How to End an IVR Call from a Sparkforge Workflow

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Add the End IVR Call action after your IVR steps in a workflow to hang up the caller cleanly. Choose to end abruptly, play a text-to-speech message, or play uploaded audio with a configurable loop count.

Without an explicit end action, an IVR call stays open while non-IVR steps in the workflow keep running — leaving the caller listening to hold music until the workflow finishes or they hang up. The End IVR Call action solves that.

What End IVR Call does

It terminates the IVR leg of the call from your side. You can end abruptly, play a goodbye message, or play custom audio before disconnecting.

How to set it up

  1. Open the workflow that contains the IVR action you want to terminate.
  2. Click the + button after any IVR action — Gather, Say/Play a Message, Record, etc.
  3. Search for End IVR Call.
  4. Pick how the call ends: End abruptly (default), Text message (TTS), or Custom music (uploaded audio). Set the number of loops if applicable.
  5. Click Save.

End modes

  • End abruptly. Default. Hangs up immediately with no warning.
  • Text message. Type a message; Sparkforge speaks it via TTS, then hangs up. Set loop count.
  • Custom music. Upload a voice clip, branded audio, or any supported format. Plays before disconnecting. Set loop count.

What happens after End IVR Call

Any IVR actions placed after End IVR Call are skipped. Non-IVR actions in the same workflow continue running normally — End IVR Call only terminates the call leg, not the workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is End IVR Call a premium action?
No. It is included with workflows, no add-on required.
What happens to IVR steps after End IVR Call?
They are skipped. Once the IVR leg is terminated, no further IVR actions run.
Will the rest of my workflow still run?
Yes. Non-IVR actions — SMS, email, contact updates, webhooks — keep running as scheduled. Only the IVR call leg ends.
Can I customize how the call ends?
Yes. Pick End abruptly, a TTS text message, or uploaded custom audio, and set how many times the message or audio loops before hangup.
