How to Use the Add Task Workflow Action in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

The Add Task action creates a task on a specified user with a due date and time. Skip weekends, add rich-text instructions, and preview the calculated due date before saving.

What this action does

The Add Task action drops a task onto a user with a clear title, description, and deadline. Use it to make sure follow-ups, callbacks, and onboarding steps don't fall off anyone's plate.

How to configure

  1. Action Name — Label the step (for example, Add Task - Follow Up).
  2. Title — The task title the assignee will see.
  3. Description — Rich-text details. Formatting is preserved on save.
  4. Assign To — Pick the user who owns the task.
  5. Due In — Number plus a unit (days, weeks, months, years).
  6. Due Time — Optional time of day.
  7. Skip Weekends — Optional. When enabled, the due date skips Saturdays and Sundays.
  8. Due Date Preview — The action shows the resolved date and time so you can sanity-check before saving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does formatting in the description carry through?
Yes. The description supports rich text, so bold, italics, lists, and links are preserved when the task is saved and displayed.
Can I set the due date to a specific time of day?
Yes. The Due Time field lets you pin the deadline to a clock time on top of the Due In offset.
Will Skip Weekends shift the due date if it lands on a Sunday?
Yes. With Skip Weekends on, due dates that fall on Saturday or Sunday roll forward to the next weekday.
Can I assign tasks to a user who isn't the contact owner?
Yes. Assign To accepts any user in the account — the task doesn't need to go to the contact owner.
