The Add Leads Under an Affiliate action assigns a contact to an affiliate and campaign so commission tracking stays accurate. Three assignment methods cover the common ways an affiliate ID gets into the system.

How to use it

  1. Open the workflow and add the Add Leads Under an Affiliate action.
  2. Pick the assignment method: Manual, Auto (Attribution), or Custom Mapping.
  3. Configure the fields based on the method you chose.
  4. Save and publish the workflow.

Assignment methods

1. Manual

Manually assign a lead to a known affiliate inside a specific campaign. Best for form submissions, internal routing, or admin overrides.

  1. Select the campaign.
  2. Select the affiliate (limited to affiliates in that campaign).

2. Auto (Attribution via URL)

Automatically assign leads using am_id passed in the URL. Supports first-click or last-click attribution.

  1. Choose attribution method: First or Last.
  2. Make sure am_id is on the URL earlier in the funnel (form page, landing page, etc.) so the value is captured.

3. Custom Mapping

Use this when the affiliate ID is in a custom field or a workflow value. Best for API pushes, third-party systems, or hidden form fields.

  1. Choose the mapping source — custom field or workflow value.
  2. The system reads the value and assigns the lead to the matching affiliate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which assignment method should I pick?
Use Manual when you know the affiliate ahead of time. Use Auto when am_id flows through the URL. Use Custom Mapping when the affiliate ID arrives via API or webhook into a custom field.
What is am_id?
am_id is the affiliate ID parameter Sparkforge looks for in URLs to attribute leads automatically. It must be present on the page where the lead converts (or earlier in the funnel).
What's the difference between first-click and last-click attribution?
First-click credits the affiliate from the first time the lead landed with am_id. Last-click credits the affiliate from the most recent visit before conversion.
Can a lead be reassigned later?
Adding a lead under an affiliate twice can overwrite or duplicate attribution depending on your campaign settings. Test the flow with a sample contact before publishing.
