Number Intelligence in Sparkforge: What It Does and How to Enable It

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Number Intelligence is a set of phone checks: spam detection on inbound U.S. calls, name lookup on unknown U.S. callers, and number validation before first SMS worldwide. Enable it under Settings > Phone System > Additional Settings.

Number Intelligence is a bundle of phone checks that flags spam, identifies unknown callers, and validates SMS-capable numbers before the first message goes out. Use it to filter junk calls, personalize greetings, and protect SMS deliverability.

What's included

  • Spam Detection: Flags risky inbound calls from unknown U.S. numbers as Spam Likely in call logs and Conversations. Use the tag in automations or manual triage.
  • Name Lookup: Fetches the name of an unknown U.S. caller so the contact record is more complete and the team can greet them by name.
  • Number Validation: Checks SMS-capable status worldwide before the first SMS sends. If a number is identified as a landline, no SMS is queued to the carrier.

Validation runs at SMS send time, not during contact import or contact creation.

Why it matters

  • Cuts time spent on spam calls.
  • Increases answer rates by separating real customers from junk.
  • Personalizes inbound greetings with caller names.
  • Protects SMS deliverability by skipping landline and invalid numbers.

How to enable or disable it

  1. Log into your sub-account.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Open the Phone System tab.
  4. Click Additional Settings > Number Intelligence.
  5. Check or uncheck Gather Intelligence on Unknown Phone Numbers.

As of December 5, 2024, the three sub-features turn on and off together — they cannot be toggled individually.

Pricing

Charges hit the Agency Wallet at the rates below. Sub-account wallets are charged per your SaaS rebilling configuration.

CheckWhen it triggersRate
Spam DetectionInbound call from an unknown U.S. number$0.005 per call
Name LookupInbound call from an unknown U.S. number$0.01 per call
Number ValidationFirst outbound SMS to a number worldwide$0.005 per validation

Unknown means the number is not saved as a contact, or the contact's name field is empty (for Name Lookup).

How spam calls are handled

Calls flagged by Spam Detection still ring through. They are tagged Spam Likely in the web dialer and the Contacts tab. To block specific numbers permanently, add them to an inbound DND list.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Number Intelligence cost?
Spam Detection runs $0.005 per inbound call from an unknown U.S. number. Name Lookup runs $0.01 per call. Number Validation runs $0.005 per first SMS worldwide.
Can I turn just one feature on?
No. Spam Detection, Name Lookup, and Number Validation activate and deactivate together as a bundle.
Does this work outside the U.S.?
Spam Detection and Name Lookup only run on calls from U.S. phone numbers regardless of where your sub-account is. SMS validation works worldwide.
Will I still see spam calls if Spam Detection is on?
Yes. Spam calls still appear in your call logs tagged Spam Likely. To block them entirely, add the number to an inbound DND list.
What happens if I disable Number Intelligence?
Spam tagging, name lookups, and SMS validation stop running. SMS may go out to numbers that cannot receive it, which can hurt deliverability.
