How to Verify Domains for iOS 14 in Facebook Business Manager
To preserve Facebook ad tracking under iOS 14, verify your root domain in Facebook Business Manager via a TXT DNS record. Verifying the root automatically covers all its subdomains.
iOS 14 broke a lot of Facebook ad tracking. Domain verification in Facebook Business Manager restores attribution for sites you own — and verifying the root domain covers every subdomain underneath it.
Step-by-step: verify your domain
- Log into Facebook Business Manager.
- Go to your client's account, then Brand Safety > Domains.
- Click Add A Domain. Enter the URL without
https://. - In the DNS Verification tab, copy the TXT record value Facebook shows you.
- Log into your domain's DNS manager. Create a new TXT record with host
@and paste the copied value. Save. - Back in Facebook Business Manager, click Verify.
Subdomains are covered automatically
Verifying the root domain (e.g. example.com) automatically verifies every subdomain (app.example.com, shop.example.com, etc.). You don't need separate verifications.
Add the domain to your Pixel allow list
- Open your Pixel settings.
- Scroll to the Domains on your allow list section.
- Add your root domain.
- Save. The list confirms with "yourdomain and sub-domains".
When you build a Facebook ad and put a subdomain URL in the Website URL field, the Tracking section automatically suggests the corresponding root domain.
DNS propagation timing
TXT records typically propagate in minutes but can take up to 48 hours depending on your DNS provider's TTL. If verification fails immediately after saving, wait 15 minutes and retry.
