How to Set Up Facebook Conversions API Lead Events in Sparkforge
Sparkforge sends pipeline stage changes to Facebook Conversions API as Lead Events so Meta can optimize lead ads for quality, not volume. Setup needs a CRM-source pixel in Events Manager plus two workflows: one to create the opportunity, one to push stage changes to CAPI.
Facebook Conversions API (CAPI) lets Sparkforge ship server-side conversion data straight to Meta. With Lead Events, Sparkforge sends each pipeline stage change to Facebook so the algorithm optimizes Lead Ads for closed deals, not just form fills.
Funnel Events vs Lead Events
Sparkforge supports two CAPI flavors:
- Funnel Events fire from the web server when a visitor lands on a page, adds to cart, purchases, or subscribes.
- Lead Events fire from the CRM as leads move across pipeline stages. The CRM is the data source.
Eligibility for Conversion Leads
Meta requires the following before it will accept Conversion Leads from Sparkforge:
- You are running Facebook or Instagram Lead Ads (Instant Forms).
- The 15-16 digit Meta Lead ID is mapped into the CRM.
- You generate at least 250 leads per month and upload data daily.
- The lead stage you optimize for happens within 28 days of lead creation.
- That stage has a 1%-40% conversion rate.
Step 1: Create the CAPI pixel in Meta
- Open Meta Business Suite and go to Events Manager.
- Confirm you are on the correct Ad Account with admin access to the Page.
- Click Connect Data Sources in the left sidebar.
- Choose CRM, click Next, accept best practices, click Next again.
- Pick Create New Pixel or select an existing one, then continue.
- Choose Sparkforge as the CRM partner and click Next. You can ignore the redirect to the partner site and return to Sparkforge to build the workflows.
If Events Manager is stuck on "Wait for seven days of CRM events," send data daily, hit at least 50 events across 7 days, skip test events (they don't count), and ensure two pipeline stages are firing events.
Step 2: Confirm the Facebook integration in Sparkforge
- Go to Settings > Integrations and confirm the Facebook account is connected with admin permissions.
- Open Settings > Integrations > Facebook Form Field Mapping. The Lead Form must be mapped and enabled. Custom fields (single and multi-option) are supported.
Step 3: Build Workflow 1 — Create or Update Opportunity
- Open Automations > Workflows and create a new workflow.
- Add the Facebook Lead Form Submitted trigger. Filter to the specific Lead Form if needed.
- Add a Meta Conversion API action. Paste your Access Token, Pixel ID (Dataset ID), and Stage Name.
- Add a Create or Update Opportunity action. Set the Pipeline and Pipeline Stage. Set the Opportunity Name to the lead's Full Name with the custom value picker.
- Toggle on Allow Duplicate Opportunities. Save and Publish.
Where to find the Access Token and Pixel ID
In Events Manager, open Data Sources > Settings, scroll down, and click Generate Access Token. The Dataset ID on the same screen is your Pixel ID.
Step 4: Build Workflow 2 — Push Stage Changes to CAPI
- Create a second workflow with the Pipeline Stage Change trigger.
- Add a Facebook Conversion API action. Set Event Type to Lead Event.
- Paste the same Access Token and Pixel ID. Use the custom value picker to populate Stage Name with the opportunity's pipeline and stage.
- Save and Publish.
Custom mapping (optional)
Custom mapping is off by default. Toggle it on to map FBCLID for funnel events or Facebook Lead ID for lead events. Custom values override system defaults; leave them empty to use defaults.
Test the integration
Use Meta's Lead Ads Test Tool, pick the right Page and Lead Ad Form, and create a test lead. Wait up to 24 hours for the event to land in Events Manager. Move the test opportunity to the trigger stage, then check Events Manager > Settings to confirm the Conversion Leads integration is progressing.
For both workflows, enable Allow Multiple in workflow settings.
