Use Custom Objects in Workflow Triggers and Actions
Sparkforge workflows now support custom objects. Trigger automations on object events (like Home Created or Home Changed) and run actions to create, update, or clear records on those objects.
Custom objects work inside Sparkforge workflows. You can trigger an automation on a custom object event and run actions specific to that object — create, update, or clear records, plus connect to webhooks, Google Sheets, and other tools.

Use case: real estate sale automation
A real estate agency uses a custom object called Home to track listings. When Home Status flips to Closed, the agency wants the next steps to fire automatically.
Trigger
Object Changed → the workflow fires when Home Status on the Home object changes to Closed.
Actions
- Update Associated Object — update the linked Agent record.
- Add a Row to Google Sheets — log the sale to a central tracker.
- Clear a Field — clear temporary Notes and Internal Comment custom fields that are no longer needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to create the custom object before using it in a workflow?
Yes. Define the custom object and its fields before referencing it in any workflow trigger or action.
Can a custom object workflow send data to outside tools?
Yes. Use webhooks or Google Sheets actions to push custom object data into reporting, inventory, or other external systems.
What triggers are available for custom objects?
Object-specific triggers like Created and Changed (for example, Home Created and Home Changed), plus Inbound Webhook events.
Can I update a record on an associated object inside the same workflow?
Yes. Actions like Update Associated Record let you change linked records (for example, the Agent attached to a Home).
Is OpenAI GPT available inside custom object workflows?
Yes. The Workflow AI action uses GPT, so you can pass custom object data into AI steps.
