Notes on Custom Objects in Sparkforge CRM

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge lets you add notes directly to Custom Object records and associate one note across linked Contacts and Opportunities, so the same context shows up everywhere without duplicates.

Custom Object Notes in Sparkforge work the same as Notes on Contacts and Opportunities. Add notes to a record, search the history, filter and sort, and link the same note to related records so context follows the work.

What Notes on Custom Objects do

Notes live directly on the Custom Object record instead of being buried in Contact or Opportunity timelines. A note created on a Contact or Opportunity can also be associated with a related Custom Object record. The same note shows in every connected record - no duplicates, no copy-paste.

Why this matters

  • Record-specific context: Information sits where the work happens.
  • Single source of truth: One note, many associations. Edit once, updates everywhere.
  • Faster lookups: Keyword search inside the Notes panel.
  • Cleaner history: Filters and sort options for long note histories.

Add a note to a Custom Object record

  1. Go to Custom Objects in Sparkforge.
  2. Open the Custom Object record.
  3. Find the Notes panel on the right side of the record.
  4. Click Add Note.
  5. Enter the note details.
  6. Click Save.

The note appears on the original record and on any associated Custom Object records.

Manage associations

Associations can be removed without deleting the note. Edits to a shared note propagate across every record it is linked to, because Sparkforge stores one note and references it - it does not copy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do associated notes create duplicate copies?
No. An associated note is a single note that appears on every connected record. Edits update everywhere it is linked.
Can I create a note directly on a Custom Object record?
Yes. Use the Notes panel on the record and click Add Note.
Can I search notes on a Custom Object record?
Yes. The Notes panel includes keyword search across the note history.
Can notes from Contacts or Opportunities appear on Custom Object records?
Yes, when those records are connected to the Custom Object record. Associate the existing note rather than recreating it.
Can I remove an association without deleting the note?
Yes. Removing an association unlinks the note from that record but leaves the original note intact.
