Default Phone Preferences for New Sub-Accounts

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge applies four default phone preferences to every new sub-account: auto-link to the phone system, A2P registration rules, number intelligence, and a messaging limit. Adjust them at any time from agency Settings.

Every new Sparkforge sub-account is provisioned with default phone settings so messaging and voice work out of the box. You can change any of them from the agency settings — either before sub-accounts are created or after.

Where to change the defaults

  1. Log in to your Agency account and click Settings.
  2. Click Phone Integration.
  3. Open the Account Creation tab.
  4. Adjust the preferences and save.

The four default preferences

1. Automatically link the phone system

On by default. New sub-accounts are auto-connected to the phone system, so messaging and voice work immediately without manual provisioning.

2. Allow A2P registration when re-billing is disabled

Off by default. Out of the box, sub-accounts can only submit A2P (Application-to-Person) registration if re-billing is on. Turn this option on to let sub-account users submit A2P even when re-billing is disabled.

3. Automatically enable Number Intelligence

Optional. Number Intelligence adds three protections to every phone number on the sub-account:

  • Validates numbers before the first SMS sends.
  • Detects incoming spam calls.
  • Looks up unknown caller names before answering.

4. Messaging Limit

Sets the messaging cap for newly created sub-accounts. The default is Messaging Ramp, which gradually increases capacity as senders prove healthy delivery. Change the default if your agency has a different ramp policy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do these defaults apply retroactively to existing sub-accounts?
No. The Account Creation defaults only apply to new sub-accounts created after the change. Existing sub-accounts keep their current settings unless edited individually.
Can sub-account owners override these settings?
Some, like Number Intelligence, can be toggled at the sub-account level. Others, like A2P registration permissions, are governed by the agency-wide default.
What is Messaging Ramp?
Messaging Ramp is a default messaging limit that starts conservative and increases capacity as the sender's delivery quality stays healthy. It protects deliverability and reputation on new numbers.
Should I auto-link the phone system?
For most agencies, yes — it removes a manual setup step. Turn it off only if you have sub-accounts that should not have phone provisioned automatically.
