Capture Submitter Timezone on Sparkforge Forms and Surveys

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge automatically captures the submitter's timezone with every form or survey submission. Use that data to send follow-up messages at the right local time and to map where your audience actually lives.

Knowing where someone is matters. The timezone captured on a form submission lets you time outbound emails, SMS, and call attempts to the contact's actual local hour — not your own.

Enable or disable timezone capture

Open the form or survey, go to Options, and find the Timezone setting. It's on by default. Toggle it off if you have a specific reason not to capture it.

Where the value shows up

Each submission record includes the captured timezone, formatted as the submitter's region plus the GMT offset. That value rides through to the contact record and is available in workflows, segments, and message scheduling.

Practical use

  • Time-of-day sending — Schedule emails and SMS based on the contact's timezone instead of yours.
  • Quiet-hours protection — Suppress outbound messages between 9pm and 8am local to stay on the right side of carrier rules and basic decency.
  • Audience mapping — Aggregate timezones to see where your real customer base lives, which often differs from where you assume.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is timezone capture on by default?
Yes. Every form and survey captures submitter timezone unless you explicitly disable it in Options.
Where does the captured timezone go?
It's stored on the submission and the contact record. It's available to workflows, segments, and any scheduled send.
What format is the timezone stored in?
It's stored with the region name and GMT offset, so both humans and automations can read it without conversion.
Can I send messages based on the contact's timezone?
Yes. In email and SMS scheduling, choose the contact's timezone instead of the account timezone so messages land at the intended local hour.
