Conditional Logic in Sparkforge Forms and Surveys

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Conditional Logic v2 lets Sparkforge forms and surveys react to answers — show/hide fields, redirect, disqualify leads, or jump to a slide. Build rules in three steps: field, state, value.

Conditional Logic in Sparkforge forms and surveys triggers actions based on what someone enters. Use it to qualify leads, branch surveys, hide irrelevant fields, or redirect to a thank-you page.

What Conditional Logic does

Define if/then rules tied to field values. Examples:

  • If the answer is "No," show a message.
  • If a score is below 5, disqualify the lead.
  • If a date falls in a range, redirect to another URL.
  • In surveys, jump to a different slide.

What's new in v2

  • Three-step builder: Select Field → Select State → Provide Value.
  • Between operator for numeric, date, score, and monetary fields.
  • Survey branching with Jump To.
  • Expanded field support: checkboxes, multi-dropdowns, TnC, file uploads, signatures.
  • New show/hide targets: payment, text, HTML, image, and TnC elements.
  • Rule-list filtering by field or slide in surveys.
  • Cycle protection blocks slide loops.
  • Localized UI with keyboard navigation.

Available actions

ActionWhat it does
Redirect to URLSends the user to a webpage after submission.
Display Custom MessageShows a personalized message based on answers.
Disqualify LeadRejects the submission automatically.
Show/Hide FieldsReveals or hides fields based on input.

Rules execute top-down. Later matches override earlier ones for show/hide; for the rest, the first match wins.

Set up a rule

  1. Open the form or survey builder, click Conditional Logic in the top bar.
  2. Click Add New Condition and pick an action.
  3. Build the rule: Select Field, Select Field State (e.g., is equal to, is empty), Provide a Value.
  4. Add more conditions with AND or OR — but each rule uses one connector type, not both.
  5. Pick the action result (URL, message text, fields to toggle, or slide for Jump To).
  6. Click Save. The button only activates when all required inputs are valid.

Survey-specific: Jump To

  • IF basis: field or slide.
  • THEN action: jump to a slide or question.
  • Evaluation: happens when the user clicks Next.
  • Conflicts: if multiple Jump To rules match, the first one runs.
  • Protection: self-loops and slide cycles are blocked automatically.

Behavior notes

  • Rules execute top-down.
  • For Redirect, Message, and Disqualify, only the first matching rule runs.
  • For Show/Hide, later matches override earlier ones.
  • Multi-select "is equal to {Option}" checks if the option is selected.
  • Text logic ignores case and extra spaces.
  • Dates evaluate in the account's timezone.

Tips

  • Use Between for inclusive number or date ranges.
  • Try date presets like Today or This Week.
  • Preview the form or survey before publishing — every time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mix AND and OR in the same rule?
No. Each rule uses one connector type. Use a second rule if you need different logic.
What happens when multiple rules match the same submission?
For Redirect, Message, and Disqualify, the first matching rule runs. For Show/Hide, later matches override earlier ones.
Can I create infinite loops with Jump To in surveys?
No. The builder blocks self-loops and slide-to-slide cycles and shows an error if it detects one.
Does Conditional Logic support calendar fields?
Not yet. Date Picker fields are supported, but native calendar booking fields aren't.
Are text comparisons case-sensitive?
No. Text logic ignores case and trims extra spaces.
