Taxes and Processing Fees in Sparkforge Services (v2)
Services (v2) supports manual taxes via the linked Product and a per-Service processing fee. Both lines show on booking forms, appointment records, and receipts.
Sparkforge Services (v2) lets you present an itemized checkout for calendar bookings. Manual taxes attach to the linked Product. A processing (miscellaneous) fee attaches directly to the Service.
Why use it
- Cost recovery: pass through card or convenience costs as a labeled fee
- Compliance: apply manual sales, VAT, or GST rates
- Consistency: totals match across booking pages, appointment records, receipts, and exports
- Customer trust: itemized totals before payment reduce disputes
Processing fees (miscellaneous charges)
A miscellaneous charge is a percentage-based line you add per Service to cover processing or convenience costs.
- Custom label (e.g., "Service Charge") and percentage (e.g., 5%)
- Shows as its own line on the booking form and on receipts
- Appears in the appointment record so staff see subtotal, fee, tax, and total
Add a processing fee
- Open the Service in Calendars → Services (v2).
- In the payment settings, enable the miscellaneous charge.
- Set the label and percentage.
- Save the Service.
Manual taxes
Manual taxes are attached to the Product that's automatically linked to each Service. Each Service has one linked Product, so configure tax there.
Add manual taxes
- Open the Service. Find its linked Product (created automatically when the Service was created).
- Open that Product's tax settings.
- Attach one or more manual tax rates.
- Save. The tax now appears on every booking of that Service.
Where totals show up
- Public booking form (before checkout)
- Appointment modal (subtotal, fee, tax, total)
- Customer receipts
- Exports and reports
Calculation order
Subtotal → processing fee added → tax applied to the taxable portion → total. Always preview a test booking to confirm rates and labels render the way you expect.
