How to Set Up Twilio Webhooks for Sparkforge Calls and Messages
If you bring your own Twilio account instead of using Sparkforge's phone, Twilio needs webhook URLs pointed at Sparkforge so inbound calls, SMS, and status updates land in your account.
If you use your own Twilio account rather than Sparkforge's built-in phone, Twilio has to know where to send incoming calls, messages, and call status updates. That's what webhooks are for. Configure them once per number and you're set.
Why webhooks are required
Twilio owns the phone numbers and routes the traffic. Sparkforge needs Twilio to forward each event — inbound call, inbound SMS, call status change — to a Sparkforge endpoint. Without webhooks, calls and texts never reach your Sparkforge inbox.
Voice webhook setup
- Log in to your Twilio account and open the phone numbers list.
- Click the phone number you want to configure.
- Set Routing region to
US1if it isn't already. - Under Voice Configuration, set:

- A call comes in: Webhook
- URL:
https://services.sparkforgehq.com/phone-system/voice-call/inbound - HTTP: HTTP POST
- Primary handler fails: leave as-is
- Call status changes URL:
https://services.sparkforgehq.com/appengine/twilio/incoming_call_status - HTTP: HTTP POST
- Caller Name Lookup: Enabled (recommended)
- Click Save configuration.
Messaging webhook setup

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need this if I'm using Sparkforge's built-in phone?
No. Webhook setup is only required when you bring your own Twilio account. Sparkforge's native phone is preconfigured.
What happens if I skip the call status webhook?
Sparkforge will still get the call, but call status events (completed, no-answer, busy, failed) won't update in your account, which breaks workflows and reporting that depend on call outcome.
Why does the routing region need to be US1?
Sparkforge's services expect US1 routing. Other regions can introduce latency or routing issues for the inbound webhook traffic.
My number is attached to a Messaging Service. Where do the SMS webhooks go?
Configure the webhook on the Messaging Service itself under Integration, not on the individual phone number. The Messaging Service settings take over.
