How to Set Up SSO Magic Links in Sparkforge Client Portal Apps

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

SSO Magic Links log clients straight into a specific Sparkforge client portal app (Courses, Communities, or Affiliates) without a username or password. You can also embed them as custom menu items.

SSO Magic Links are unique URLs that log a client directly into a single client portal app. Each link is tied to one contact and one app, so the user lands exactly where they should without a login screen.

Why use them

  • One-click login with no username or password.
  • Faster onboarding for new clients on Courses, Communities, or Affiliates.
  • Fewer support tickets from forgotten passwords.
  • Multi-app convenience when a client uses several portal apps.

Generate a Magic Link

  1. Open Sites from the left-hand menu.
  2. Click the Client Portal dropdown and select Dashboard.
  3. In the Actions panel, click Generate next to Generate Magic Link.
  4. Choose Custom Menu as the link type (reusable, ideal for embedding).
  5. In Select App, pick Courses, Communities, or Affiliates.
  6. Click Generate, then click the copy icon to grab the URL.

Embed a Magic Link as a custom menu item

  1. From the sub-account dashboard, switch to Agency View from the account dropdown.
  2. Open Settings in the left sidebar.
  3. Scroll to Custom Menu Links and click + Create New.
  4. Fill in Link Icon, Link Title, and paste the magic link into URL.
  5. Choose how the link opens: embedded iFrame, new tab, or same window.
  6. Set Sidebar Visibility (Agency, Sub-Account, or both).
  7. Assign the link to specific sub-accounts.
  8. Set Role-Based Visibility (Admins, Users, or all).
  9. Optionally enable microphone and camera permissions for embedded apps that need them.
  10. Click Save.

Where Magic Links work

Magic Links are supported for Courses, Communities, and Affiliates. They are tied to a specific contact and app, so each link only opens what that user has access to.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which apps support Magic Links?
Courses, Communities, and Affiliates. Other client portal areas do not currently accept SSO magic links.
Are Magic Links secure?
Yes. Each link is unique to a single contact and a single app, and only grants access to what that contact already has permission to see.
Can I send a Magic Link inside an automated email?
Yes. Drop the URL into onboarding emails, workflow messages, or custom buttons. The contact clicks once and lands inside the app logged in.
Does the client need to be logged in first?
No. The link logs them in and redirects them in a single click.
Can I regenerate a Magic Link?
Yes. Run through the generation steps again to create a fresh link. The old one stays valid unless you remove it.
