Set Up Shipping Profiles in Sparkforge Ecommerce
Shipping Profiles in Sparkforge let you charge different rates per product, zone, or app integration. Custom profiles override the default, and the General Profile catches anything unassigned so checkout always has a valid rate.
Shipping Profiles set the rules customers see at checkout. Sparkforge always keeps a General Profile as the fallback and lets you stack Custom Profiles on top for specific products, stores, or third-party apps.
How profiles work
General Shipping Profile
Created automatically. Applies to every product not assigned to a custom or app-defined profile. Acts as the safety net when a third-party app fails to return rates.
Custom Shipping Profiles
Each custom profile can:
- Apply to one or more stores.
- Include selected products.
- Define zones by country, region, or province.
- Mix rate types: flat, price-based, weight-based, or free.
A product belongs to one custom profile at a time. Reassigning it overrides the previous profile.
Checkout with mixed carts
When a cart pulls from multiple profiles, Sparkforge combines the rates:
- Different profile names → single line labeled Shipping.
- Same profile name → rates combine and appear under that shared name.
Create a Custom Shipping Profile
- Go to Payments > Settings > Shipping & Delivery > Custom Profiles.
- Click Add Custom.
- Enter a unique profile name (internal only).
- Select the store(s) the profile covers.
- Pick the products or product groups to include.
- Click Add Zone and choose countries or regions.
- Add rate types per zone:
- Flat (e.g., $5)
- Price-based (e.g., free over $50)
- Weight-based (e.g., $10 for 0–10 lb)
- Free shipping
- Click Save, then place a test order to verify rates.
Build the General Profile first, then layer Custom Profiles only where unique rates apply.
Limit a zone by ZIP or postcode
Inside a zone, enable Limit Shipping to Specific ZIP/Postcodes for hyper-local coverage.
Accepted formats
- Single code:
100210 - Comma-separated:
100210,122021 - Wildcard prefix:
46*matches any code starting with46
Validation rules
- Wildcards are allowed only as a trailing asterisk.
- The zone won’t save if the restriction is enabled with no valid entries.
- Invalid or duplicate entries are rejected during input.
