How to Set Up Voice AI Inbound Call Flow in Sparkforge
In Sparkforge, the Voice AI agent can answer every inbound call or only the ones you miss. The behavior depends on whether you assign the default sub-account number to the agent and whether call forwarding is on.
Sparkforge Voice AI handles inbound calls for you. The agent can answer every call directly, or step in only when you miss one. The behavior comes down to two settings: which number is assigned to the agent, and whether call forwarding is enabled.
Where Call Forwarding Lives
Step 1: Open Manage Numbers
- Click Settings in your sub-account.
- Open the Phone Numbers tab.
- The list of available numbers shows under Manage Numbers.
Step 2: Edit the number's configuration
- Click the three-dot menu next to the number.
- Select Edit Configuration.
- Find the Forward Calls To option in the configuration window.
Voice AI Without Call Forwarding
If call forwarding is off, the Voice AI agent always answers, unless the assigned number is your default sub-account number. This is the right setup when you want the agent to handle every inbound call as your virtual receptionist.
To make the agent answer every call:
- Do not assign the default sub-account number to the agent.
- Do not turn on call forwarding for the agent's number.
Voice AI With Call Forwarding
If you forward inbound calls to your office or cell, the Voice AI agent should only step in when you don't pick up. Use one of these setups:
- Assign the default sub-account number to the agent.
- Turn on call forwarding for the agent's number.
Important: in either case, lower the Inbound Call Timeout so callers never reach your local voicemail. Once a call hits voicemail, Sparkforge marks it complete and the Voice AI agent will not pick up.
