How to Pause Workflows on Specific Dates in Sparkforge
The Pause Workflow option in Global Workflow Settings stops selected workflows during dates you choose without losing contact progress. Supports up to 15 ranges, optional annual recurrence, and automatic resume.
The Pause Workflow option lets you halt specific Sparkforge workflows during date ranges you define — holidays, seasonal slowdowns, planned office closures — without disabling them or losing contacts mid-flow. Contacts still enroll, they just hold at the trigger or next step until the pause ends.
Why pause instead of disable
- Contacts still enroll during the pause — no lost leads.
- No rebuild — workflows resume exactly where they left off.
- Annual recurrence — set holidays once and forget.
- Up to 15 date ranges per configuration.
How to configure a pause
- Open Automation and go to Global Workflow Settings (also reachable from the Settings → Automation tab).
- Scroll to the Pause Workflow section.
- Click Start Date and Time, set the start and end of the pause, and click Confirm.
- Click Select Workflows and pick one, several, or all published workflows. Only Published workflows appear.
- (Optional) Tick Annually on the row to repeat the same pause every year.
- (Optional) Click Add Date to stack additional ranges, up to 15 total.
- Use the clone or delete icons on each row to duplicate or remove ranges.
- Save.
What contacts experience during a pause
Contacts still enroll into a paused workflow. They progress through any leading Wait or If/Else action, then hold at the next real action (Email, SMS, etc.) until the pause ends. Once the pause window closes, workflows resume automatically — no manual restart.
Example
- Workflow A: first action is Send Email. During pause, contacts enroll and wait at the trigger.
- Workflow B: first action is Wait 1 day. During pause, contacts enroll, run the Wait, then hold at the next action.
Rules to know
- Maximum range length: 15 days per row.
- A single workflow cannot appear in two overlapping date ranges.
- Pause status is shown on the Workflow Landing Page and inside Builder Settings for each affected workflow.
