Auto Save in the Sparkforge Workflow Builder

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Auto Save continuously writes your workflow edits to draft so you don't lose progress. Live workflows only change when you click Publish.

Auto Save in the Sparkforge Workflow Builder writes canvas edits to draft in the background. You keep building without hitting Save, and live workflows stay untouched until you publish.

What Auto Save does

Every change to the canvas, settings, or workflow name is stored in the current draft. Multiple editors or browser tabs collapse into the most recent auto-saved draft.

Draft vs. Publish

  • Auto Save writes to draft only. Active workflows continue running the published version.
  • Publish is deliberate. Click Publish to push the draft live.
  • Iterate freely. Stack many edits in draft without affecting customers.

What Auto Save captures

  • Adding or deleting any action or trigger
  • Edits in the workflow Settings tab
  • Workflow name changes
  • Workflow status changes (Draft or Publish)

What Auto Save doesn't capture

Configuration changes inside an action's side panel are saved when you click Save Action, not by Auto Save alone. Always confirm action settings before stepping away.

Named checkpoints

Use Save Version to drop a labeled milestone any time. Pair Save Version with Auto Save to get both passive recovery and intentional restore points.

Turn it on

  1. Open any workflow.
  2. Toggle Auto Save in the toolbar.
  3. Build. Confirm action panels are saved before publishing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Auto Save change my live workflow?
No. Auto Save only writes to the draft. Your live workflow keeps running the published version until you click Publish.
Does Auto Save capture changes inside an action's settings panel?
Not by itself. Click Save Action in the side panel to commit those configuration changes.
What happens if two people edit the same workflow?
The most recent auto-saved change becomes the current draft. Coordinate editors to avoid overwriting each other's work.
Can I roll back an auto-saved change?
Yes. Use Undo and Redo in-session, or restore a previous version from Version History.
