Add an "Other" Write-In Option to Radio Buttons in Sparkforge Forms
Toggle Allow Other Options on a radio element in Sparkforge Forms or Surveys to add a write-in field for custom answers. Responses save in the same column as the radio field and export to CSV.
Radio buttons in Sparkforge Forms and Surveys can include an Other write-in field, so respondents who don't fit your predefined choices can submit a custom answer. The text saves alongside the standard responses in the submissions dashboard and exports cleanly to CSV.
What the Other option does
When enabled, a text field appears beneath the radio choices. Respondents who pick Other type their own answer, and that text stores in the same submission column as the rest of the radio responses. You see the full picture without forcing respondents into options that don't fit.
When to use it
- Discovery surveys where you don't know the full range of answers yet.
- Lead intake when categorizing services, sources, or referrals.
- Feedback forms where capturing nuance matters more than tidy categories.
How to enable Other on a radio button
- From the left nav, click Sites.
- Click Forms or Surveys in the top ribbon.
- Find your form or survey, click the three-dot menu, and select Edit.
- Open the Element panel with the + icon in the upper-right.
- Drag the Radio element onto your form.
- Click the radio element to open its settings panel on the right.
- Click the Options tab.
- Toggle Allow Other Options on.
The Other field doesn't render in the builder view but appears in the form preview and live form.
Where custom responses land
- Open Forms > Submissions or Surveys > Submissions for the asset.
- The write-in text appears in the column matching your radio field's name.
- CSV exports include the custom text in the same column.
