Manage Comments on Posts in Sparkforge Communities

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

In Sparkforge Communities, post authors, channel managers, and workspace admins can turn comments on or off for any post — at creation or after publishing. Disabling comments hides existing replies without deleting them.

Comment control lets you decide whether a post invites discussion or stays read-only. Use it to keep announcement channels focused, cut moderation work, and signal intent on each post.

Who can manage comments

  • The post author
  • Channel managers
  • Workspace admins

Announcement channels

New posts in announcement channels allow comments by default unless you turn them off. Older announcement posts (created before this feature) have comments disabled by default — review them to decide whether opening comments adds value.

Turn off comments while creating a post

The post editor includes a Turn off commenting toggle. Switch it on and the post publishes as read-only — no comment box appears, and members see a clear message that commenting is disabled.

Change comment settings after publishing

  1. Open the post.
  2. Click the three-dot menu.
  3. Choose Turn off comments or Turn on comments.

The change applies instantly. Existing comments are hidden, not deleted. Re-enabling comments restores all previously visible replies.

Step-by-step setup

  1. From the left sidebar, go to Memberships. Hover over Communities in the top nav and click Groups.
  2. Find your community on the Groups page and click Login to enter.
  3. Open the Discussion tab.
  4. Click into the post creation box. Add a title and content.
  5. Use the Enable Comments toggle: ON lets members reply, OFF publishes as read-only.
  6. To change later, open the post, click the three-dot menu, and toggle Disable Comments or Enable Comments.

Behavior to remember

  • Disabling comments hides replies — it does not delete them.
  • Re-enabling comments restores all hidden replies.
  • When comments are off, members see: "Comments are disabled for this post."
  • Likes and reactions are unaffected by the comment toggle.
