Magic Links for Memberships in Sparkforge
Magic links let members log into courses without a password. Newer locations generate them from the Client Portal dashboard. Use them for password resets, invitations, email campaigns, and multi-device access.
A magic link is a one-click login that bypasses username and password. Members tap the link, land in their course, and see whatever products they have access to. It is the fastest way to get someone into a membership when they are stuck on a login screen.
Note for newly created locations: use Client Portal magic links. Generate them from Sites > Client Portal > Dashboard.
What a magic link does
The link skips authentication and drops the recipient straight into their member account. They see only the products they have been granted access to.
If you generate a magic link while logged in as an agency admin, you will see every available course in that sub-account, not the customer's normal scope. Use a member's view to test what your customers actually see.
Why operators use them
- Simplified login — no credentials to remember or recover.
- Time-limited access — links expire, which limits credential-leak risk.
- Device portability — the same link works on desktop, tablet, or phone.
Real use cases
- Password resets — send a magic link instead of running a reset flow.
- New member invites — invite a buyer to their course right after purchase.
- Email campaigns — drop magic links into nurture sequences for one-click access.
- Promotions — link to discounted or gated content with no signup friction.
- Multi-device handoff — let a member jump from email on phone to course on desktop without re-authenticating.
Two types of magic links
User magic link
For location users (your team or your client's team). Grants login access to the user's account.
Member (contact) magic link
For end customers. Grants login access to the member account and the products they own.
How to create a magic link
For client portal magic links, open Sites > Client Portal > Dashboard and follow the prompts to generate a link for the contact. For older locations using legacy membership magic links, open the contact record or membership product and look for the magic link option in the more menu.
Operational tips
- Treat magic links like passwords — anyone with the URL gets in.
- Use them in transactional emails, not public posts.
- For high-value content, pair magic links with short expirations.
