How to Build a Whitelabel Membership PWA in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge memberships can be installed as a branded Progressive Web App (PWA) on any device. Configure branding, app name, icons, and theme color in Membership Settings, and members install the PWA directly from their browser — no app store required.

A Progressive Web App (PWA) gives your members an app-like experience without the App Store or Google Play. Sparkforge's whitelabel membership PWA installs from a browser, runs on any device, and stays branded with your logo, name, and colors.

Prerequisites

  • Branding — go to Memberships > Settings > Branding and upload logo, color scheme, and favicon
  • Membership structure — under Memberships > Products, create tiers, courses, and access rules
  • Custom domain (optional) — link app.yourbrand.com via Settings > Domains for a polished look

Set up the PWA

1. Open membership app settings

From the left navigation, open Memberships, then go to Courses > Settings in the top nav. Find the App Settings tile.

2. Enable PWA installation

Toggle Enable PWA on. The configuration fields appear, and members can install the PWA from compatible browsers (Chrome, Safari, Edge).

3. Configure app identity

  • Name — full app name shown during install and in the app title bar
  • Short name — short label for home screens and app folders
  • Description — one-line description shown during install

4. Upload icons

Two sizes are required: 512x512 and 192x192. Use .jpg or .png. Both should be visually identical so home screens, splash screens, and app drawers stay consistent.

5. Pick a theme color

Choose from Sparkforge's predefined palettes. Custom hex codes aren't supported yet. The selected color drives buttons and headers.

6. Save

Click Save in the upper right. Without this step, your changes don't apply.

How members install the PWA

Windows (Chrome/Edge)

Members click the install icon in the browser address bar after logging into the membership portal. The PWA appears as a desktop shortcut.

Mac (Chrome)

Same flow as Windows — click the install icon in the Chrome address bar from the membership portal.

Android (Chrome)

Open the membership site in Chrome, tap the menu, and choose Add to Home Screen. The PWA installs as an icon on the home screen.

iOS (Safari 11.3+)

Open Safari, navigate to the membership site, tap the share icon, and choose Add to Home Screen. The PWA installs from there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I submit my Sparkforge PWA to the App Store?
Yes, but you'll need to wrap it as a native app using a tool like PWABuilder or Capacitor. Sparkforge doesn't generate App Store binaries directly.
Does the PWA work offline?
Yes, but only for content that's already loaded and cached. Full offline functionality requires advanced caching strategies a native app provides automatically.
Can my PWA send push notifications?
Push works on Android via Chrome. iOS support is limited and depends on the Safari version. Critical updates should also send via SMS or email through Sparkforge automation.
Do I need a developer to build the PWA?
No. The Sparkforge PWA configuration is fully no-code — upload icons, pick a theme, save, and members can install.
Can I use custom hex color codes for the theme?
Not currently. Pick from the predefined palettes Sparkforge provides. Custom hex support is on the roadmap.
