Migrate Legacy Memberships to the Client Portal in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

The Client Portal replaces legacy memberships with one login that covers courses, communities, affiliates, and subscriptions. Existing user credentials carry over; migrate from Memberships > Settings > Site Settings.

The Client Portal is the successor to legacy memberships. It uses the same login credentials your members already have and adds communities, subscription management, notifications, and a native mobile app.

What changes for your members

  • One login covers courses, communities, affiliates, and subscriptions.
  • Existing legacy membership credentials keep working — nobody re-registers.
  • New features include in-app notifications, subscription management, and a forthcoming native mobile app with white-label options per sub-account.

What stays the same

Every feature you used in legacy memberships is available in the Client Portal. Course content, member access, and login credentials all transfer.

Heads up: PWA compatibility

The old membership PWA is not compatible with the Client Portal. The native mobile app currently in development will replace it and supports white-labeling per sub-account.

How to migrate

  1. Go to Memberships.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Open Site Settings.
  4. Follow the on-screen migration steps carefully before confirming.

Read every prompt before you accept. The migration is designed to be smooth, but reviewing the steps avoids surprises with custom configurations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my members need to create new accounts?
No. Legacy membership credentials keep working in the Client Portal. Members log in with what they already have.
Will the old membership PWA still work?
No. The legacy PWA is not compatible. A native mobile app for the Client Portal is in development and will support white-labeling per sub-account.
Are all legacy features available in the Client Portal?
Yes, plus more. The Client Portal adds communities, subscription management, notifications, and the upcoming mobile app on top of everything legacy memberships offered.
Where do I start the migration?
In your sub-account, go to Memberships > Settings > Site Settings and follow the on-screen instructions.
Can I roll back if something looks off?
Plan your migration during a low-traffic window and review the on-screen prompts before confirming. Rolling back complex membership configurations isn't something to count on after migration completes.
