Use Audience Controls in Sparkforge Ad Manager

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Audience Controls in Sparkforge Ad Manager cover geographic location and intended audience. Pick locations to include or exclude with a radius, then combine target interests, lookalikes, and retargeting to define who sees the ads.

Audience Controls is the second half of step 2 (Budget and Audience) in the Ad Manager campaign flow. It has two parts: Geographic location and Intended Audience.

Geographic location

Use the Search Locations field to add cities, states, countries, or specific addresses to the audience.

  1. Type a location and pick a result. The map updates to show it.
  2. Use the radius slider next to the location to set the distance around it. Radius is only available for addresses, neighborhoods, and small areas, not full cities or countries.
  3. Use the Include / Exclude dropdown. Include targets the audience inside that area. Exclude removes them, and the area turns red on the map.
  4. Click the cross icon to remove a location.

EU political ads (Google Ads only)

For Google Ads campaigns, you must declare whether the campaign contains EU political ads. Pick Yes or No before publishing. Review Google's Political content policy if you're unsure.

Intended Audience

Three audience types are available, and you can combine them.

Target Interests

Reach new prospects by interest, language, gender, and age range. Pick one or more interests from the dropdown.

Lookalike audiences

Reach people similar to an existing custom audience. Pick a lookalike from the dropdown (these are imported from your connected ad account). Sparkforge calculates an estimated audience size based on the source and the geography you set.

Note: Lookalikes are limited or unavailable for Special Ad Categories (housing, employment, credit, social issues, etc.).

Retargeting

Reach people who have interacted with your brand on Meta. Pick a retargeting audience from the dropdown. These come from custom audiences or are imported from your ad account.

Combining audiences

  • You can mix any two or all three audience types on a single campaign, but combining narrows the audience size and often hurts delivery.
  • Up to 15 lookalike and 15 retargeting audiences can be selected per campaign.
  • Each audience is flagged Ready or Not Ready. Not Ready audiences cannot be selected; hover the tooltip for the reason from Meta.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I exclude a city from a campaign?
Yes. Add the location, then change the dropdown next to it from Include to Exclude. The map highlights it red.
Why doesn't the radius slider show for some locations?
Radius is only available for small areas like addresses and neighborhoods. Cities, states, and countries don't use a radius.
How many lookalike or retargeting audiences can I attach to one campaign?
Up to 15 lookalike and 15 retargeting audiences.
Why can't I select a lookalike audience that says Not Ready?
Meta hasn't finished building it or has flagged it as ineligible. Hover the tooltip for the specific reason. Wait or pick a different audience.
Should I combine all three audience types?
Usually no. Combining narrows the audience and can throttle delivery. Start with one type and layer only if performance data justifies it.
