How to Manage Comments in Sparkforge Memberships

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

In Sparkforge memberships, set comments per category or per lesson to Enabled, Hidden, or Locked. Use the comments manager under Products to moderate, switch visibility between User Only and Public, and delete or restore.

Comments give students a place to ask questions and give feedback on course lessons. Sparkforge lets you enable, hide, or lock comments at the category or individual lesson level.

Three comment states

  • Enabled: comment box visible. Existing comments display, students can post new ones.
  • Hidden: comment box not visible. Existing comments are not displayed.
  • Locked: existing comments display but no new comments can be added.

Set comments for a category

  1. Open Products.
  2. Select an existing product or create a new one.
  3. Click the Comments section.
  4. Choose the category and set Enabled, Hidden, or Locked.

Set comments per lesson

Same flow, but inside a category, drill down to individual lessons and set the state per lesson. Useful when one lesson generates noise but the rest of the course should stay open.

In the comments manager, every comment has a visibility dropdown:

  • User Only: comment is visible only to the course creator and the student who posted it.
  • Public: comment is visible to all students and the course creator.

Delete

  1. Open Products > Manage Comments.
  2. Find the comment, select it, and click Delete.

  1. Open Products > Manage Comments > Deleted tab.
  2. Select the deleted comment and click Restore.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Hidden and Locked comments?
Hidden means the comment box and existing comments are not displayed at all. Locked means existing comments stay visible but no new comments can be posted.
Can I set comments per lesson instead of per category?
Yes. Inside the comments section of a product, drill down into a category and set state per lesson. Useful for keeping most lessons open while locking down one that's getting off-topic.
What does User Only visibility do?
Only the course creator and the student who posted the comment can see it. Use this for sensitive feedback or when a student asks a personal question.
Can I restore a deleted comment?
Yes. Open Products > Manage Comments > Deleted tab, find the comment, and click Restore. It returns to the active comments list.
