Add Recurring Products to Documents and Contracts
Sparkforge documents and contracts now support recurring products and setup fees. Schedule invoices to send on document completion so contracts and billing stay tied together.
Documents and contracts now support recurring products alongside one-time products. Setup fees show as their own line item, and you can schedule invoicing to start when the document is signed.
What's supported
- Recurring products in the document product list.
- Setup fees rendered as a separate row in the line items.
- Mixed cart: if you include both one-time and recurring products, the one-time items charge only on the first invoice.
- Recurring schedule on templates: the start date can be set to the document's completion date.
How to use it
- Add a product list to your document.
- Add recurring and one-time products to the list.
- For recurring products, open the product list properties and add a schedule. Set the invoice send date to the document completion date or a custom date.
- When the document is completed, Sparkforge sends an invoice — recurring if at least one recurring product is in the list, one-time if not.
Why this exists
Before this change, recurring products and setup fees blocked teams from running invoicing through contracts. Now signing the contract kicks off the right invoice automatically — no parallel invoice setup needed.
What's coming next
- 2-in-1 documents: the invoice appears immediately after the primary signer signs the document.
- One-time deposit: collect a percentage of total product value in the first invoice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I mix recurring and one-time products in the same document?
Yes. The one-time products charge on the first invoice only, and the recurring products continue on the configured schedule.
How are setup fees billed?
Setup fees show as a separate line item on the invoice generated when the document is completed.
Can I set the recurring schedule on a template?
Yes. Templates support recurring schedules with the start date tied to document completion or a custom date.
What invoice gets sent when the document is signed?
If at least one recurring product is in the list, a recurring invoice goes out. If not, a one-time invoice is sent.
