How to Process Refunds in Sparkforge
Sparkforge processes full or partial refunds for transactions made through Stripe, Authorize.net, NMI, and PayPal. Refunds work for card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay payments and are recorded on the transaction's detail page.
Sparkforge handles refunds inside the same dashboard you took the payment in. Full or partial, across every supported payment provider, with a record stored against the transaction.
Supported payment providers
- Stripe
- Authorize.net
- NMI
- PayPal
Refunds work for card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay payments. Recurring subscription transactions can't currently be refunded retroactively from inside Sparkforge.
How to issue a refund
- Go to Payments > Transactions.
- Find the transaction. Click the three dots next to it.
- Click Refund.
- Confirm the amount.
Full refund
The refund modal pre-fills the full transaction amount. Confirm to issue it.
Partial refund
Edit the pre-filled amount to anything less than the full transaction amount. Add notes if you want a record of why — notes appear in the Notes column on the transaction detail page.
When partial refunds make sense
- Pricing errors — refund the difference between the wrong charge and the correct price.
- Post-purchase discounts — apply a promo a customer was supposed to get.
- Compromise on disputes — meet halfway when a customer is partially unsatisfied.
- Partial returns — refund just the items that came back.
- Damaged or missing items — compensate for what was wrong without voiding the order.
- Shipping issues — refund shipping as a goodwill gesture.
Where refunds get recorded
Every successful and failed refund attempt shows up on the transaction's detail page. That gives you a running history per transaction, including amounts and timestamps.
