Coupon Targeting by Product, Price, and Variant in Sparkforge
Coupon targeting in Sparkforge lets you apply discounts to a full product, specific prices, or specific variants. Configuration is enforced at checkout across Funnels, Forms, Ecommerce, Payment Links, and Calendars, and powers more precise workflow filters.
Apply coupons to entire products, specific prices, or individual variants in Sparkforge. This gives you more control over discounts across Funnels, Forms, Ecommerce, Payment Links, and Calendars — and removes the need to duplicate products just to discount one option.
What coupon targeting does
Instead of limiting a coupon to an entire product, you can choose whether it applies to all prices or variants under a product, or only to specific prices or variants. Customers only get the discount when the selected item matches the coupon configuration.
What you get
- Precise promotions on a specific price point or variant.
- Less manual setup — no more duplicating products to discount one option.
- Accurate checkout — coupons apply only when the product, price, or variant matches.
- Better workflow control with product-based filters refined by price or variant.
- Future-ready — selecting the full product includes new prices and variants added later.
How targeting works
When creating or editing a coupon, you can configure it to apply to:
- An entire product.
- All prices or variants under a product.
- Only selected prices under a product.
- Only selected variants under a product.
The product picker uses a nested view, so you expand a product and choose how broadly or narrowly to apply.
Checkout behavior
All supported checkout surfaces enforce the coupon configuration:
- Funnels
- Forms
- Ecommerce / Store
- Payment Links
- Calendars
If a coupon targets a specific price or variant, it applies only when that exact item is selected. If the customer picks a different price or variant under the same product, the coupon doesn't apply.
Useful for:
- Discounting only a premium pricing tier.
- Promoting one variant but not all of them.
- Limited offers tied to a specific option.
Workflow trigger support
For these triggers, you can refine filters beyond the product level:
- Coupon Code Applied
- Coupon Code Redeemed
Filtering is dependent: pick the product first, then choose a price or variant. Price and variant options only appear after a product is selected.
Use cases:
- Start a workflow only when a coupon is applied to a specific pricing tier.
- Trigger follow-ups when a coupon is redeemed on a specific variant.
- Segment contacts by discounted purchases tied to a particular offer.
How to set up coupon targeting
- Go to Payments → Coupons.
- Click Create Coupon, or open an existing coupon and click Edit.
- Enter coupon code, discount type, and discount value.
- In the product selection area, choose the product the coupon applies to.
- Use the nested selection view to choose the full product, all prices/variants, specific prices, or specific variants.
- Save the coupon.
- Test on the relevant checkout surface (Funnel, Form, Ecommerce page, Payment Link, or Calendar).
- If you want automation, go to Automation → Workflows and add a coupon trigger. Pick the product first, then refine by price or variant.
FAQ
Can I still apply a coupon to an entire product?
Yes. Product-level coupons still work. You can apply to the full product whenever you want.
Why can't I see the price or variant filter in my workflow trigger?
Price and variant filters are dependent. Select a product first and the price/variant options become available.
