How to Connect iCloud Calendar to Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Generate an app-specific password at appleid.apple.com, then connect iCloud under Settings > Calendars > Connections. iCloud is one-way only — events flow into Sparkforge as blocked time, but Sparkforge events do not write back to iCloud.

Connecting iCloud to Sparkforge syncs your Apple calendar events into Sparkforge availability so you don't get double-booked. Note: iCloud sync is one-way only. Sparkforge events do not write back to iCloud, and contacts are not created from iCloud event guests.

Step 1: Generate an Apple app-specific password

Apple requires an app-specific password — separate from your iCloud login — for any third-party connection. Two-factor authentication must be on first.

1a. Sign into Apple ID

Go to appleid.apple.com and sign in.

1b. Enable two-factor auth

Under Security, turn on two-factor authentication if it's not already on.

1c. Generate the password

Open Sign-In and Security > App-Specific Password and click Generate an app-specific password.

1d. Label it

Name it something you'll recognize (e.g., "Sparkforge iCloud Integration") and click Create.

1e. Save it

Copy the password and store it somewhere safe. You'll need it in Step 2.

Step 2: Connect iCloud to Sparkforge

2a. Open Connections

Go to sub-account > Settings > Calendars > Connections and click + Add New.

2b. Authenticate

In the iCloud Calendar widget, click Connect. Enter your iCloud Apple ID and the app-specific password from Step 1, then click Connect.

Step 3: Configure calendars

The Calendar Configuration panel only appears if at least one external calendar is connected.

3a. Open the configuration panel

Go to Settings > My Profile > Calendar Configuration, or Settings > Calendars > Connections > Calendar Configuration — both routes open the same panel.

3b. Set primary linked calendar

Click Edit next to the primary linked calendar and choose which iCloud calendar receives new Sparkforge events. New events created in Sparkforge land here, and events created on this calendar sync into Sparkforge.

3c. Set conflict calendars

Click Edit next to conflict calendars. Pick any iCloud calendars (your own, holidays, team members) whose busy time should block your Sparkforge availability.

Troubleshooting

Authentication fails

  • Confirm you're using the app-specific password, not your normal Apple password.
  • Confirm two-factor authentication is on for your Apple ID.

Sync issues

  • Confirm the correct iCloud calendar is set as primary.
  • Events must be on the correct iCloud calendar to sync into Sparkforge.

Scheduling conflicts

  • Add iCloud calendars as conflict calendars for busy time to block your Sparkforge availability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can iCloud events block my Sparkforge availability?
Yes. Add the iCloud calendar as a conflict calendar. Events marked BUSY block availability for the event window. Events marked FREE pull through but don't block.
Can I connect multiple iCloud calendars?
Yes. Each user can connect multiple iCloud integrations per sub-account, and the same iCloud account can be connected across multiple sub-accounts.
Is iCloud sync two-way?
No. iCloud only supports one-way sync (default). Google and Outlook offer two-way options under Advanced Sync Preferences, but iCloud does not. Sparkforge blocked slots will not appear on iCloud.
Why don't I see the Calendar Configuration panel?
It only appears once at least one third-party calendar is connected. Connect another calendar first, and it'll show up.
Can I connect iCloud calendars I subscribed to from someone else?
No. Subscribed (URL-based) iCloud calendars aren't supported. Only your own iCloud calendars connect.
Why use an app-specific password instead of my Apple password?
Apple requires it for any third-party app. Two-factor authentication must be on for app-specific passwords to be available.
