How to Grant Community Group Access from a Contact
Manage Community Groups, Course Offers, and password resets right from the Contacts page. Assigning a group from here bypasses join questions and group payments.
What this does
You can assign Community Groups, Course Offers, and reset passwords for a contact directly from the Contacts page in the Client Portal. No more bouncing between sections to onboard or recover an account.
What you get
Assign offers without leaving Contacts
Pick courses or community groups from the contact record and assign them in one move — useful for promotions, course enrollments, and direct onboarding.
Group management in one spot
Add the contact to relevant Community Groups from the same panel. Cleaner segmentation for targeted campaigns or group-specific notifications.
Password management for users
Admins can either:
- Set a new password for the contact directly.
- Send a password reset link by email.
Step by step
- Open Contacts in the Client Portal and pick the contact you want to manage.
- Find the right section:
- If Courses is enabled for the location, the Courses section shows up.
- If Client Portal is enabled, the Client Portal section shows up, including Community Groups.
- Assign offers — Pick the courses or community groups to assign and confirm.
- Manage groups — Add the contact to one or more Community Groups for campaigns or notifications.
- Manage passwords — Set a new password directly, or send a reset link.
Notes
- If Courses is enabled at the location, the Courses section replaces the Client Portal section on Contacts.
- If Client Portal is enabled, the Contacts page shows the Client Portal section with Community Groups.
- Group access granted via Contacts bypasses any join questions or group payment requirements. Members get direct access.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does assigning a group from Contacts skip join questions?
Yes. Granting access this way bypasses any join questions or group payment requirements. The contact gets direct access.
Why do I see Courses instead of Client Portal on the Contacts page?
That depends on the location config. If Courses is enabled, that section replaces Client Portal on the Contacts page. If Client Portal is enabled, you see Community Groups under that section instead.
Can I reset a contact's password without emailing them?
Yes. Admins can set a new password directly from the Contacts page, or send a reset link by email — whichever fits the situation.
Can I add a contact to multiple groups at once?
Yes. The Community Groups picker accepts multiple selections, so you can put a contact into several groups in one action.
